Coleman Red Canyon Tent: For Eight People!
If you’ve been looking for a decent size Family Tent that will also provide quality and safety and will come with a friendly price, you have come to the right place. The 8 person Coleman Red Canyon Tent is an absolutely great tent! It provides lots of room for a family of four, plus you can invite your friends for a camping trip and still have enough room for everyone. 6 Adults would be very comfortable in it, plus all of their bags and things. I can’t imagine a better, more spacious Family Camping Tent for the money. If you’re asking yourself what is the thing that makes the Coleman Red Canyon Tent superior, come and let’s take a closer look.
Coleman’s exclusive Weathertec System is guaranteed to keep you dry from unexpected wet weather on your camping trip. All doors, windows and seams are made to keep the weather out and keep you dry. The Coleman Red Canyon Tent has been tested many times in bad weather conditions and heavy rain and it works very well every time. The rain fly handles the rain very well and the tent is sturdy enough to stay firmly planted for a bad wind or rainstorm with no damage. There’s a bit of dew that forms on the sides after 2 days of heavy rain but no water leakage inside the tent. The tent has a large door for easy entry, and the door is raised up away from the ground to minimize debris accidentally being swept into the tent. The bottom of the tent is a water-resistant material (you can still use a tarp) that wraps UP from the bottom of the tent several inches up each side. If you’ve ever slept in rain or snow that turned out to be a dry riverbed then you’ll understand how this is important. The tent also has a Cool-Air port and Variflo adjustable venting system that allows you to adjust airflow. Lots of screens for venting heat under the rain cover. This tent is strong, durable and aerodynamic.
Setting up your 8 person tent
Tent setup is easy with its shock-corded poles and easy-to-follow assembly instructions which are printed on the inside flap of the tent bag so you never lose them. This means it should take 2 people less than 15 minutes to set put up the Coleman Red Canyon Tent, including the rain flap and tie downs. The poles are color-coded with red or grey stickers, but after you set the tent up once, you can tell which poles are which without needing the color coding. The set includes separate storage bags for tent, poles, and stakes. Compared to a cabin style tent, this one weathers way better in storms, set up time is significantly less and is also cost friendly. On that note, Coleman is always a great choice since replacement parts can be easily ordered if needed. If you do a bit of research you’ll discover there isn’t anything else this size and quality for anywhere near this price.
Looking Inside of the 8 Person Tent
This thing is HUGE, it’s more like a camping mansion. It’s about 6′ tall in the center, so that you can stand up fully and have space to bring your camp inside if the weather gets bad. You could set up 3 queen size air mattress inside and still have plenty of room for all of your gear inside the tent. Plenty of space to maneuver without stepping on other people’s stuff.
The inside of the tent is very roomy and attractive, with some gold accents on the white areas of the tent.
There are two panels you can hang to divide the space. The dividers are very practical if you need a “private” space for changing before going to sleep. The tent has practical pockets through the interior too. You will really like the little mesh panel for the ceiling used for a small cargo hold. Some people prefer to put a LED lamb in it. I would definitely recommend this tent to anyone looking for something large enough for a whole family and then some.
Storing and TLC
Now, for putting the tent away. I know it is a pain to disassemble it, not really anyone’s favorite part, but you need to realize that giving the tent that extra TLC will make it last a lot longer.
Folding the pieces takes some time but that’s how it is with all big tents like this.
Make sure you clean it first so nothing will cause a tear or any damage while being stored away. You could also just roll up the tent and tie it with some string, but showing that extra care will give you those extra miles of usage in the long run.
Things to have in mind
Make sure to go easy on the zipper, it is a bit delicate. If you’re experiencing trouble with it, you might have stretched the front of your tent a little too taut. In that case, the zipper won’t be able to zip all the way. Instead it gets stuck on one of the flaps over it and remains lodged.
If you set the stakes nearest the door closer together, you will solve the zipper issue.
Also, this is an excellent tent, just do not stretch it when you first set up the pegs. If you do, the pressure will rip off the orange loops sawed to the tent. When setting it up, make sure the rings take all the pressure and not your tent.
Overall this 8 person tent is perfect for any family camping trip you decide to go on. It is extremely spacious, easy to set up, comes with a good carrying case, has very good ventilation and offers the option of 3 separate “rooms”. People have been loyal to Coleman tents for 20 years and for all the good reason. This spacious Coleman Red Canyon Tent will be your perfect home away from home.
